See Ya Later Rapid City - Spearfish Falls
We spent the last days in Rapid City visiting all of our favorite haunts as well as some new places and said goodbye to some pretty amazing friends! We even had a little "party" at our apartment clubhouse to celebrate our time there.
New places we visited:
Wildlife Loop in Custer State Park
The boys loved feeding the begging burros and watching the bison from afar. We stopped at the bison center to get out and stretch a bit. They have a button you can push for bison sounds and the boys got the biggest kick out of that! We narrowly avoided a big rainstorm, and it made for some incredible views
Grapes and Grinds
I want to open one of these in DSM. They serve tea, coffee, gelato, and wine and have the coolest outdoor space. We played foosball, climbed on the playplace and EZ taught M the beginnings of chess. We loved this space so much that we brought friends here and played a round of putt-putt. It is right next to the Presidential Wax Museum, so we peeked in there, but ended up just shopping their 50% off sale. hah!
Spearfish Falls
I wish we had known about this sooner so we could have taken Gammie here. It was such an easy walk, but had plenty to explore and I just love seeing waterfalls. X loved all the benches and made sure to sit on each and everyone. Maybe the family picture we snapped here will end up on our Christmas card!
Old haunts we visited to say goodbye one last time:
Reptile Gardens and playgrounds with friends!
Dinosaur Museum (of course the boys loved this tourist trap, thankfully we did a season pass)
One more swim at the apartment pool before fall weather hit. M learned how to do backstroke by the end of the summer, and X was so comfortable in his float that he stabbed with a screwdriver...
It's been real Rapid City! This place was so much more than we could have ever hoped for. We can't wait to come back. Perfect weather, beautiful views, wonderful friendships, and our souls were recharged by all the time we were able to spend outdoors.
