Spring Creek Hike and Blind Lion Speakeasy

EZ and I were so spoiled to get a morning to ourselves to explore and have kid free time during Gammie's time here. We haven't left the house together without kids since June. EZ went on this hike alone while we were in Des Moines and knew he wanted to take me to the Spring Creek trail. We also dipped into the Flume Trail for a portion. We hiked the Centennial Trail with the boys previously which can connect to this as well. It has a few steep inclines, some fun creek crossings, a flume tunnel from an old mine, a dry creek bed, and of course amazing views. Sometimes I think he likes to challenge (torture) me a bit when he chooses hikes. This was not a difficult one, but the initial uphill portion definitely got my heart pumping! And the creek crossings on tiny bridge were barely within my comfort zone. I ended up walking through the water for some because it's me and I love water. (But I hate wet hair) The Chacos I purchased in August sure have been put to good use. The weather was beautiful, slightly overcast from the smoke that has been blowing through, but it made it a good temperature for hiking.

Later that evening we stumbled upon a speakeasy in downtown Rapid City. It was such a fun experience. You have to text their number to get a reservation, they give you a passcode and a secret path to follow to get there. We went early in the evening, so it wasn't full, but as the night went on, it gets pretty busy! I wish we had the time and the means to make another visit before we head out of Rapid, but the countdown has started and Gammie is no longer here to watch the boys!
