Montana

We really wanted to go to Yellowstone while in Rapid City, but being pregnant, having visitors to Rapid, and having a busy work schedule for EZ, it just never made it on the calendar! So back in August we decided we’d try to plan a trip to Yellowstone after his contract ended in March. This grew into a 3 week cross country trip, with a stop to see my sister in Seattle, and no stop at Yellowstone. Because, jokes on us, they close in between seasons. So that’s on our bucket list for later. We were still able to stop in the Yellowstone area and visit the hot springs in Gardiner, MT. The drive through this area was incredible, but it was so difficult to get good pictures with a sleeping baby in the car. We saw bald eagles, elk, and buffalo. The boys had a blast going from the cold tub to the warm tub into the hot tub. It reminded me of the athletic training room pools at LSU. Iykyk.

The second day of our trip took us to Columbia Falls, MT to visit Glacier National Park. We visited Lake McDonald and played by the creek. The boys threw giant rocks in the creek and of course collected sticks. If you know X, he always has a stick in his hand. And what is it with boys and making weapons out of anything they find!

The area of Livingston was one of our favorite areas to drive through. I'd love to stay in these pods in a warmer season!

Our boys were champs on the car ride. They’re so used to it by now, that we just get in and go. We were a little worried about T, but he did just fine. We rotated through all the sounds on his travel sound machine if he started to fuss. A new addition to our travel tricks were our Yoto players gifted from Nonnie and tons of cards for them gifted from the rest of the family. We have all LOVED the Yoto players!! Here's a referral link if any friends are interested in purchasing! M and X are currently obsessed with the Star Wars card. They can even recite some of the stories. Another favorite is a series called Ladybird that tells fictional stories about real nonfiction topics. M is a brainiac at this point from the things he’s learned on those cards. These were a nice alternative to watching a screen while in the car.
